Building Equity, Resiliency and Mobility in the City of Oakland

'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.'  -George Santayana

Tasked with addressing the tensions of transportation and equity in the City of Oakland, we are seeking to reexamine the lens through which the planning process is executed.  Following from the famous quote referenced above that it is neccesary to understand past patterns and strategies so as not to make the same mistakes repetitively.   Given the current political climate supporting a more modern approach to Capital Project Planning we were given an opportunity to use a fresh perspective to create a more equitable and sustainable open processes in the City of Oakland that are collaborative in nature.  This presentation follows how we applied this thought process both to the subject, and application development process.

Our project looked to develop reusable templates and collaborative data sources to create highly usable applications.  Using these key interchangeable criteria led us to create a flexible tool quickly that can be reused through the City of Oakland for future planning.
