Applications of Procedural Modeling in Transportation Planning

Spatial analysis, cartography, and data visualization provide a powerful vehicle to help communities make informed decisions on policies that will shape how our cities will move in the future. Using examples from two projects, David will explore how procedural modeling  can all be applied to provide a better understanding of transportation in our communities. The presentation will start with an introduction to procedural modeling and then describe two case studies in transportation planning.  The first case study explores how CityEngine can be leveraged to produced thousands of 3D street cross sections as part of a countywide multimodal arterial plan. The second case study this presentation will explore is the application of procedural rules in CityEngine and ArcGIS Pro can be applied to create a better understanding of parking demand.
