CalGIS LocationCon 2017 is a collaborative effort involving the four URISA chapters in CA (BayGeo, Northern CA URISA, Central CA URISA and Southern CA URISA), the GIS Education Center (GISEC) at City College of San Francisco and the Eclipse Foundation's Location Tech working group. Sponsors have a unique opportunity to be an integral part of the CalGIS LocationCon 2017 event.


CalGIS LocationCon 2017 provides content for and builds bridges between the CalGIS community who focus on GIS best practices in government, non-profit, education and consulting in California, and the LocationTech community who develop advanced location aware technologies via collaboration with commercially-friendly open source software.The conference program will include both hands-on workshops and technical sessions on current topics pertinent to the geo community, such as web mapping, spatial databases, geoprocessing, and more.


CalGIS LocationCon 2017 attendees will include a diverse mix of geospatial professionals, developers, decision-makers, researchers, vendors, students and other geo-focused professionals. The specific sponsorship packages are listed below, and include a combination of exhibiting, speaking opportunities, free conference passes, and more.


The exhibit space in Oakland is centrally located within the main traffic flow for the conference. Breaks and casual reception food are served in the exhibit area. Exhibits are tabletops, and sponsors are encouraged to use the exhibit area to demonstrate new products, showcase their capabilities, and to generally drive lead generation and market presence.

Exhibit Area Info

  • Sponsors are to setup their exhibit areas by 4PM on Monday, May 22. 

  • Wecome Happy Hour reception to be held in exhibit area Monday night at the conclusion of the first day of workshops

  • Sponsors to be setup in exhibit area full days on Tuesday, May 23 and Wenesday, May 24

  • Exhibit area is centralized, high traffic area - all meeting rooms are accessed directly from the exhibit area

  • Breaks, deserts and receptions served in exhibit area

Conference Venue


CalGIS LocationCon 2017 will be held at the Oakland Convention Center and Oakland Marriott in downtoan Oakland. The venue is located next to a BART station that affords easy public transit access to draw a wide range of Bay Area geo professionals in addition to those from other locations who will be staying at the Marriott.




Conference attendees are expected to be experienced geo professionals and people building spatially aware solutions using open source source tools, commercial software and hybrid solutions. A majority of attendees are in leadership positions within their organizations who are decision-makers or who directly influence decisionmakers in their organizations.
