CalGIS LocationCon 2017 – BUILDING BRIDGES - 23rd Annual California GIS Conference

CalGIS LocationCon 2017 is a co-hosted conference that combines the annual California GIS conference (CalGIS) with LocationCon which is a new LocationTech event that targets Eclipse Foundation members and others who attend FOSS4GNA, FOSS4G and LocationTech Tour events.

CalGIS LocationCon 2017 provides content for and builds bridges between the CalGIS community who focus on GIS best practices in government, non-profit, education and consulting in California, and the LocationTech community who develop advanced location aware technologies via collaboration with commercially-friendly open source software.

CalGIS LocationCon 2017 attendees will include a diverse mix of geospatial professionals, developers, decision-makers, researchers, vendors, students and other geo-focused professionals.

CalGIS is going on its 23rd year as the California GIS conference created by and for geospatial professionals in the state. From its inception, CalGIS has represented the best in California GIS user stories, technology trends and geospatial innovation. CalGIS conference content over the years has been morphing from a focus on commercial software solutions to content that includes open source tools and technologies. CalGIS is hosted by the four chapters of the Urban & Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) in Calfornia (BayGeo, Northern CA URISA, Central CA URISA and Southern CA URISA) and the GIS Education Center (GISEC) at City College of San Francisco.

LocationCon reflects the LocationTech partnership with CalGIS as a new event for the Eclipse Foundation community. It offers a unique opportunity to build bridges and make connections between a diverse community of geo-focused open source developers and decision-makers with a diverse group of local/state government geospatial professionals, geospatial vendors/consultants and the educational/non-profit geospatial community.

What's Different about CalGIS LocationCon 2017 vs. past CalGIS conferences? CalGIS LocationCon 2017 will offer a deeper, more rewarding conference experience compared to past CalGIS conferences in many ways:
